Overview
I worked in Kaiser Aluminum’s Advanced Engineering department on metallography and corrosion testing while designing and building AQUA, a custom automated water-quality control system.
AQUA
AQUA monitors pH and salinity in corrosion-test water and automatically adjusts conditions by adding fresh water or dosing chemicals to reduce pH as needed.
Instrumentation hardware
I designed a custom PCB with isolated I2C communication and isolated power to reduce electrical interference and improve measurement reliability from the probes.
Result
The system was designed for day-to-day lab use and remains in operation today.
